Place where my dreams live.
Birth of a New World

When what’s left of humanity has to start a new life on an unknown planet, things go completely adrift.

This was one of my recent fanfics. I’m quite proud of how this one sounded. It’s been put at hiatus though until I can get the inspiration needed for this.

When Earth couldn’t withstand the disasters that happened constantly, most of humanity died with it. A few, however, survived because they were more gifted than the rest of mankind. They foretold of a day when the world would no longer be able to shelter us from the unknown. They had prepared for the moment when they would have to leave the home they knew and had made decisions to find a new planet. I was one of them.

I’m Vicki and I’m the oldest out of what’s left of my family. I have two younger sisters, Lena and Kitty. They are the only two people who can even begin to understand me and they are my life. I’d do anything to protect them which is exactly what I intend to do with what is left of my life.

Our parents were as gifted as we were, though as a child, I remember them telling me and my sisters that we were far more gifted than they could ever have imagined. They picked our names out perfectly long before we were even born. My name means victory or conqueror and since I was younger, I have always tried to keep things calm and under control. Lena’s name means the bright one. She’s the thinker out of us. She always comes up with plans that always work out perfectly and has, at times, helped me calm down when I was stressed or upset. Kitty’s name means pure. She was our little miracle. Though our parents knew exactly what would happen with us, no one else did and if you had been there when Kitty was born, you would have been just as shocked. She had been dead for a couple of minutes…or so people thought. Lena and I still don’t know what happened and our mother and father never did tell us. She was just dead and then she wasn’t. She has been the most pure out of us all. She never took anything for granted as a child and still doesn’t.

As we grew, we watched on as our parents departed from this world to a better place. We grew up, grew in our abilities, and tried to help the world around us. In this day and age though, we were looked down upon as fakes. We warned them what was ahead and that they must be prepared. They didn’t listen. Few people did. Among those were the gifted, like us, and then there were four that weren’t. Those four were Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter, Tom Fletcher, and Harry Judd. They were the only four people who believed us. They saw what was happening to the world and knew that we were not trying to deceive anyone. They departed with us for our search to find a new planet.

After searching for what felt like decades, we came upon a planet that our parents had told us about. They had terraformed a planet in preparation for this day and had given us the location of it. Once we found it, we chose our leaders. Harry Judd was nominated the leader of the planet though he didn’t like that idea all that much. We knew he would be a great leader. He just wasn’t so sure. I was in charge of the soldiers though we didn’t really need an army. From what we saw, nothing would happen for a few years to a few decades from now. After that, we just tried to get adjusted to a new planet. It was different and unknown to us. Unknown isn’t a bad thing though…not all the time.

It’s been about two years since we found the planet and we’ve built houses for all the inhabitants. My sisters and I had found a stowaway when we landed. A young girl, just around 5 years old, was sleeping in the cargo hold. She had an envelope with her which had a note from her parents and had her name. We tried to raise her up the best we could and teach her all that we knew. So here we are, me and my sisters, sitting in our foyer just having a chat. We had walked Aja to school and went back home to talk about some new occurrences that we had heard about from some of the inhabitants of the world. We got on the topic of Aja and the note we had found two years ago when we had found her sleeping form on our ship.

“They hid her powers from her because they said they were pure evil.” Vicki said, looking at the note carefully.

“Yeah but how would they know it’s evil. I mean, everyone thought ours were evil. Said we were the bringers of death.” Kitty said, looking at Vicki.

“Unless they did know. Maybe they saw her powers. Maybe she used them before she knew she had them. If she had them that young, it’s possible she didn’t realize she had them. By the sound of it, it’s a power that she doesn’t have to know much about to use it.” Lena said.

Just then the front door opens and we hear footsteps walking into the foyer.

“Vicki, Lena, Kitty, I’m home!” Aja shouted, to be heard as she placed her books and bag in the hallway by the stairs to her room.

“We are in the foyer Aja!” Vicki shouted, quickly putting the note in a hiding place before sitting comfortably back in the chair and sipping on her coffee.

Just then, the phone rang, causing Kitty to jump slightly before she picked it up.

“Hello?” Kitty answered, looking at Vicki and Lena.

“Hello. Miss. Halliwell?” the unknown voice on the other end said.

“Yes. This is Kitty Halliwell. Who’s speaking?

“Miss. Halliwell, I’m Aja’s principal and I need to speak with you and your sister’s about her behavior at school. It seems that she has quite a reputation her with the students and quite a few of the teachers. I would like to schedule a meeting where I can speak with you and your sisters in person privately. When are you available?”

“We can come by around five thirty this evening if that is a good time for you.” Kitty spoke into the phone, getting a pen and paper to write down any information needed.

“Yes that is perfectly fine with me. Do you want to meet at the school or should I come round yours?”

“Here is fine with us. We’ll see you then.” Kitty replied before hanging up the phone and looking at Lena and Vicki. “We have a problem.”

Aja finally left just minutes before five PM and Vicki, Lena, and Kitty got things organized the house and made some coffee and some snacks before the teacher showed up. Once they had finished everything, the doorbell went off and Vicki went to get the door.

“Hello Miss. Adams.” Vicki said, holding the door open for her, taking her coat and hanging it up on the way into the foyer.

“Hello Miss. Halliwell. Shall we get started?”

“Yes we may. Would you like a cup of coffee or something to eat?” Vicki offered as Kitty and Lena entered the foyer.

“No thank you but that’s kind of you to offer.”

Vicki, Kitty, and Lena sat down on the sofa across from Miss. Adams just as she started.

“I had a young boy come into the nurses office just this morning complaining that Aja cut him on the arm and sure enough, he had a long, deep gash in his arm. We spoke to her and she said she didn’t cut him. Then she went on to say he did deserve it though. That he was being a jerk to her and deserved whatever he got. We spoke to his teacher and she said that he and Aja had been arguing and she had looked at him for almost the whole class with an odd look on her face and then all of the sudden he started on about his arm burning badly. Do you have any idea of what’s going on with her because if she continues this we will have to suspend her until further notice.”

Vicki, Kitty, and Lena look at each other before looking at the teacher.

“No ma’am we don’t but as soon as we have some idea, we’ll let you know. We’ve never seen something like this so this is all knew information to us.” Lena said, looking at the teacher.

“Well, thank you for your time and if I hear anything else from students or teachers, I’ll get in touch with you. Have a great day you three and try to relax.” Miss. Adams said, smiling before letting herself out.

“Is that her power? Being able to injure someone with a look?” Vicki commented, looking shocked and worried at the same time.

“It’s possible. That would explain why her parents tried to hide her power from her. They knew it could do so much harm and didn’t want her to use it.” Lena said.

“What are we going to do? What should we say to her? I mean, if she is doing this, she has to stop.” Kitty said, looking between Vicki and Lena for some sign of an idea.

“For the meantime, we can’t do anything. It’s possible she doesn’t even realize she’s doing this. If she knew about it now, can you imagine how she would react and what she could use it for? If she had any hatred for anyone, she could injure them badly by just looking at them. Not the best idea.” Lena said.

They didn’t realize, but Aja had come home early and was heading upstairs when she had heard them talking and stood near the entrance to the foyer, eavesdropping on their conversation.
